Book Review | The King in the Field
by Dina Rosenfeld

Score: 3

This is a beautiful version of an old Jewish parable told in charming, lilting rhyme with beautiful manuscript-like illustrations of medieval village life. This would be a perfect book to read during Elul and for pre-High Holiday preparations. It describes our talking to God and being aware of God’s presence in our lives especially during that time of year. Be aware that a traditional publishing company publishes this book so God is referred to as HaShem.

It is a charming book and I would encourage all Jewish libraries add it to their collection.
