Book Review | Rina’s Rainy Day
by Chani Altein

Score: 3

As a strong believer in the Universe and that everything happens for a reason, I am delighted to find a children’s book delivering just such a message using charming, rhyming text. Unfortunately, the illustrations are really horrendous. The story centers on a traditional Jewish household with a young girl who looks like a 40-year-old. Why, oh, why can’t Orthodox publishing houses find illustrators who can create children’s books with pictures that are just a bit more natural or delightful? Is charming art work completely out of the question?  Such a wonderful message, completely lost in the terrible illustrations.

I would love to recommend this book, but it would be with severe reservations.
