Book Review | Jodie’s Hanukkah Dig
by Anna Levine

Score: 3

Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah – Another Maccabee story with a twist. Set in Modi’in, a little girl wants to be an archeologist. She finds herself at a site where she is “lucky” enough to be with her father when a person small enough to fit into a hole is needed. She is lowered into a newly discovered cave and finds a Maccabee arrowhead. Impossibe – probably. “Implausable” – maybe. The language is strong and simple. The illustrations soft watercolors.

There is nothing out of the ordinary here and it would not be my first choice for another Hanukkah book addition to the library shelves.

Grade Level: K-3rd
