Book Review | Engineer Ari and the Rosh Hashanah Ride
by Deborah Bodin Cohen

Score: 4.5

This is a beautiful Holiday book combining Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Israeli History into a delightful picture book. This is the story of the first train to run between Jaffa and Jerusalem. In simple prose, we learn that the train left Jaffa and picked up festival foods on its way to Jerusalem – apples, honey, round challahs. shofars. Engineer Ari feels bad that he was boastful about being chosen to be the first train to Jerusalem. He promises to return and apologize to his friends. The illustrations in the book are a classic style, in earth tone colors that should meet the approval of all denominations.

I highly recommend this book to every Jewish library.
